Dedicated buttons provide quick access to MP3 and the Web. The keys are small and need to be pressed firmly-we had a right old faff each time we tried to unlock the phone, for instance.

Just a week back we were ogling at the Samsung S8300 Ultra TOUCH at the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, Spain. It was one of the phones that had impressed us the most. Today we have the device in our hands to review.

The keypad is flat yet comfortable to use. On the left of the lower panel is volume rocker, while the charger-cum- USB-cum-headphone slot is on the right. Below this are the lock and camera keys. Sliding the phone up reveals an alphanumeric keypad on the lower panel and 8.0 megapixel cameras with dual power LED flash placed at the top on the back panel.

The Samsung S8300 Ultra TOUCH is a touch screen running on the company’s proprietary Touch WIZ user interface. The picture quality, as expected from Samsung phones, is great. Camera features include smile detection, face detection, Geo-tagging, anti-shake and wide Dynamic Range. User can also set a delay timer and add effects.

The Ultra Touch has an accelerometer and a proximity sensor too. Online sharing applications like Facebook, Picassa, etc come preloaded on it.
