Some Worries:

The VSAT industry is currently facing pressure on margins. Though, the year gone by saw sharp decrease in the price of VSATs. The otherside of the coin is that this will also act as a major growth driver.

Going Forward:

The industry aims at crossing an installed base of more then 100,000 VSATs by the end of FY 2009-2010 and further ahead, plans to increase its installed base up to 10 lakhs VSATs in the next three years.

Considering all the above stated facts, the futre seems to be bright for the VSAT industry, as it expects to record a growth of 25 to 30% in the current fiscal. It is poised to play a critical role in bridging the digital divide by addressing remote rural segments.

canon-a2000 camera

Canon has added A2000 to its Powershot series. This latest 10.0 megapixel camera is not meant for professional photographers. It disappoints as the earlier A series cameras had control for checking exposure manually. The A200 is mainly built for those who want to shoot easily without setting the camera manually. The camera does not have a viewfinder and no controls for setting the exposure.

The eyepiece has been replaced with a 3-inch LCD screen to view images. The controls are displayed clearly too simply operations. The A2000 comes with 6.4-38.4 mm f/3.2-5.9 (35 mm film equivalent: 36-216 mm) lens.

NOKIA’S WIDE-FACED effort is equipped with decent email, a full QWERTY keyboard and WiFi to boot.

Email is even easier to set up than on the Blackberry. Entering details and setting up takes less than five minutes, and our emails were soon whizzing and crashing into our inbox

It’s not the style guru’s choice of these phones, but it’s what you can do with it that counts. The huge screen lets you see both sender and header easily, and scrolling is a cinchy with the sturdy stick.

Web-surfing is a joy thanks to Nokia’s cunning browse. Zoomed-out land-in views of the page appear simultaneously as you scroll, with a red square indication where you are on the former-that’s godsend on long pages. You can switch from WAP to WiFi for a hot spot-assisted speed boost. The screen, though a bit murky, is still better than the rest.

A scroll wheel would’ve been nice as another way to navigate menus, but overall, this wide Web walker is just the ticket for both emailing and surfing.
